John Irving, author, about Leslie Purcell Upchurch "Were I to try to sum up what Leslie (Purcell Upchurch) has done both for our school and my son I would say she has given a unique voice with musical depth and understanding to everyone who has worked with her."
Noah Adams of NPR's All Things Considered studied piano at a Sonata program and took a piano lesson with Leslie. He also observed her teaching a Dalcroze Eurhythmics class. His book Piano Lessons includes a description of these experiences.
