Five students today - and a unique reason for cancelling a lesson. Also, two classes!
One of my student's had a lesson cancelled because of her misbehavior. One of the things she cares about is her piano. I asked the parent who called to tell me this not to do this again. I will charge them next time, and I also believe this will ultimately backfire. The child will detach from piano or pretend to, and then losing the lesson will not have any visible impact.
The good news - the child likes piano and piano lessons that much. Once I had a student have a punishment of not being able to practice the piano. They were forgetting to push the bench in and apparently it was in a place where family members would walk around the corner and bump into it. This seemed silly and severe to me. I also asked the parent not to do this again.
Then, there are the students on the other side of the coin. The reason I believe any of us continue teaching is for the ones who love it.
Today one of my little students had their first focused lesson ever. It was great - a sight to behold! I told the child and the parents. I never say there has been a breakthrough until there is one.
Today I also had a student who had started and now has time to practice. That is so much more fun for me and them!
Tomorrow, yoga and students! A light day - but fun! Goodnight!
