I have missed 3 days! Busy teaching, doing Bikram yoga, playing music, and the usual everyday things we do.
I am realizing more and more that the pacing and style of teaching is what keeps a class going, not the content. There are days where my pacing is not at the proper one for a class. I will teach the same content again in another class and it is the perfect pace. Of course I am constantly learning, something that is an "in the moment" process.
My style is similar in situations at music schools, but in a "school, school" I am more strict. It is a different environment and you have to adapt to this.
I have gotten my one to two year old style and pacing more settled too. With subbing for a colleague who is ill, the first day I was not in touch with that. I had not taught that age for a couple of years. After one week I remembered my materials and after one more week things went beautifully.
