Day 101

Performed and Taught

It was fun playing with Charles Ramsey, the other half of Duo Fortuna, today.  Anne Farber asked me to come to an improvisation workshop organized by Michael Jovlia and we did.  Unfortunately we missed the better part of the workshop.  What we did see was great.  Michael played wonderfully, using a Debussy Prelude as a starting point.  He said he cut out measures and put them into a score, adding his own improvisations to connect the sections.  I may not have the process totally correct, but the result was a lovely piece.  Charels and I were the final portion, playing two pieces - Hirajoshi and Chromatics.  Remember, we are on My Space.

I taught 3 students and that is always fun.  The students are preparing for the first recital of the year.  It is always tough finding a date and time for these events.  I have one student very ready to perform who cannot come to the time I have selected.  I always want to accomodate everyone.  I could see if there is a time a little earlier that day.

It is fun having students play their favorite pieces and prepare them for the recital.  I hope nearly everyone can play.  I rented a rather big room so I want it to look full - and the more the merrier, and all of that!
