Day 119

Another New Student With Obvious Potential!

I taught a new student yesterday, a Bikram Yoga instructor.  A week ago and today I taught the parents of two of my students.  I love the family music concept.  I have one other family - a young girl and her parents.  It is fascinating to work with so many different students.  In families it is fun to see how each person thinks.

Tomorrow is my second recital of the 2009 holiday season.  Seven students are performing.  Four played last week.  Two I just invited to play again because the recital was smaller, they love to perform, and they live close to the venue.  Then, one student's mother and grandmother missed last week.  Finally, a student who played had a sibling who could not so they are both playing.  There are only three students who did not perform their pieces already.

The venue is smaller but there are only four families involved.  I hope we have enough chairs and space! Last week with 12 performers there were about 50 people at the recital.  It was quite lively.  I ordered 20 chairs.

Why do I have time to blog this evening?  It is snowing.  I had 3 social invitations and decided not to go to any of them because the roads look like they are getting bad.  I needed a night off anyway.  I don't know if I am teaching in the morning.  If I knew it was snowed out I would be out. But, going out and then facing possible leaving really early tomorrow AM is not appealing to me.

More after tomorrow's recital.  Will check to see if I even wrote about the first recital!

I checked and I had not written about it.  It went very well.  Everyone played their pieces pretty much as they had done at their lessons - successfully.  I had 12 performers - plus my daughter sang, I played with Charles Ramsey my Duo Fortuna partner and my tallest student also sang. Two students were not there, student who was playing a solo and then a duet with a parent.

I realize I love the event that a recital is and wonder if I should have been an event planner?
